Sera

This beauty was found in the northern part of Knuckles Range about 8km from Illukkumbura. The falls is known as Sera Ella and it is one of the many scenic places belongs to Thelgamu Oya.

There is a road that goes very close to this falls and you have to walk about 300m down a foot path to reach there. We did it in the hard way as we walked along Thelgamu Oya and on the way we found another waterfall (Upper Sera Ella / Small Sera Ella) and passed many attractive places down the stream.

All these butterflies were found during that jaunt.

To see more scenic images, explore this wonderful site - Scenic Sunday.

wow. I would love to take a dip :D But I bet it's full of kudallo?? in a way, i'm glad places like this are not too... 'discovered' by our folk (like marble beach)...helps it keep pristine... at least a bit :)

I love waterfalls. There aren't any waterfalls near my home, so I'm always happy for anyone who gets to see one.

That is a really beautiful waterfall! :D Water must be chilly, though? :D

George,
You are most welcome and wish you and Betsy a Merry Christmas too!!

Dejemonos,
Yep it is one of the best places I have seen.

Anjana,
Yep, we'll plan some thing out for sure. Just drop a mail to kirigalpoththa@yahoo.com. :)

Rainfield,
Not as good as George and Betsy though :D

Clo,
Glad you like my pictures. Wish you a Merry Xmas too :D

Dee,
This side is more towards eastern ridge of Knuckles. So we didn't see koodello closer to the falls. But on the other side (wet side towards Raththota) we found it was infested with them.
I agree with your comments. Some places are better keep them 'hidden'. By the looks of it Sera Ella is already quite famous and we saw few people there during our visit.

Ratty,
Wish there are waterfalls around your place, then we could see them through your wonderful weblog :)

Thanks all for your wonderful comments.

Chavie,
Water was quite chilly, but not unbearable like in Horton Plains.
Thanks for your comments :)

What absoultely timeless beauty. It leaves one breathless, speechless and completely at peace. Thanks to Bern for guiding me to this remarkable blog. Like Bern, you invite everyone to walk in Stillness, see nothing and thus rediscover not only inner beauty, but beauty in everything.

great shot. I like the composition a lot. framing the waterfall with the greenery draws the eye straight to the falls in my opinion.

Kirigalpoththa said...

Hi Dev,
Thanks. Glad you like it!
I'll post few more of this falls soon. Was busy last few days so could not post much :)
