Ella

Ella is one of my favorite areas in Sri Lanka.

It is situated in Uva Province quite close to Haputhale. Ella literally means waterfall. Infact, Ravana Falls is not so faraway from Ella. Ella pass is another entry point to central highlands and within two hour drive you can reach Thissamaharama via Wellawaya.

This picture was taken from the famous Ella Rest house.

The first time I saw Ella gap I was like :O hehe! :D Lovely shot you've captured there K!

There was a nice rest house where you could stay, on the Wellawaya road. Have you been to Dova rock temple? :)

Betchai,
Yes, it is an excellent area for hiking

Mahasen,
You should go there. If you want to book the rest house then you have to do it well in advance

Loshni,
Thanks a lot for your comments

Betsy,
You will surely like this place. Especially it is situated so close to a few waterfalls :)

Of course you will find this place very interesting

Tony,
Yes, Haputale, Diyathalawa, Ella ..all these places have ideal climatic conditions for a cool holiday. NuwaraEliya side is cool too but it is too wet and humid.

Magerata,
Yes it is breathtaking beauty from here. :)

Chavie,
Yes I have gone to Dova. Excellent place too. Im not sure this rest house you mentioned. Is it Ella rest house (Now known as Grand Ella Motel) or something further towards Wellawaya?
I’ll upload more photos of Ella Gap. :)

Me-shak,
Yes you can see mountains far away and beyond. Mountains in Ella have this distinctive greenish shade too. It is truly a beautiful place for a nature lover.

Thanks all for your wonderful comments!

What an amazing view! I'd definitely gape too like Chavie did if I were there.. =D

We're always surrounded by mountains here but I've never seen a vista like this.. esp. with so many layers of hills crisscrossing.

George,
Ella is a unique area in Sri Lanka and I have not seen similar cliamte and vegetation in anywhere else in SL.

Harumi,
The view from here is amazing. The day I took this it was not the clearest day. On a better day it would have been even better.

Naquillity,
Thanks for your lovely comments as always. :)

I love the panoramic view here. But my spine is chilling because it is cold .... highlands are cold places to live but refreshing and envigorating. Not for the old lady like me.

Thanks for the visit. Just enjoy your baby .... she won't be a baby for long.

Bonnie Bonsai,
In sri Lanka highlands are not so cold compared to temperate zone. Here you would usually get 20 - 24C temperature during daytime. At night it may be bit colder around 18 - 20C.

Yes she is growing fast. I can see it everyday :)
Thanks a lot for your comments.
