Rain, Rain

The other day I caught up with pouring rain while returning from Wellawaya. Initially I thought the photos taken from inside the car were very dull. But later I thought these ordinary photos have some hidden beauty.

I thought of posting this one, although it would have been ideal if I could post it with my earlier post on rainy seasons of Sri Lanka.

Eerily beautiful K! :) and you were in Wellawaya yesterday? O.O awesome! did you take the Beragala route? how was Diyaluma? must've been quite a sight! :D

Wow.. that looks almost like a watercolor painting or a Photoshopped image than a real photo.. very artistic.

Thanks for sharing.

Quite intriguiging!
A very bad road to be travelling in such inclement weather.

I really like that shot. It's really fascinating. It's rainy here, but not nearly as badly as your picture shows.

In spite of the heavy rain, this shot looks magical! Your blog is wonderful. I'm an avid hiker too; I'd love to follow you as you hike around on your beautiful island! Thanks for visiting my blogs...that's how I found yours!

An experiment with a very good result. I have tried the same once in my blog. It looked like winter.

You really got caught in a downpour. I like the photo -- it's almost mystical. Thanks for visiting my site.

I also thought of a painting when I saw this shot. Beautiful image.

Chavie,
I was in Colombo ydy. The picture was taken a few days ago. The rain was just starting and Diyaluma was looking good. Think it should be even better by now as I heard it is raining hard in Haputale / Balangoda side. Good for the reservoirs and catchment areas.:) Not so good for the gem business in Rathnapura.:(

Harumi,
It does look like a photoshopped image. The picture was taken behind the windscreen. The water was just flowing consistently:)

Gallicissa,
Yep it was not the easiest task to travel on that road during such rough weather. Luckily I pass the area before the mist! Had the mist come I would have been stranded :)

Bettyl,
Glad you like the photo. It is the start of monsoon season here. The rain is just bucketing down on some of the days:)

Roentarre,
Thanks! I got inspiration from your lovely posts to select this photo:) Yes it has a dreamy feeling.

Linnea W,
Thank you! Nice to meet fellow hikers around the world :) I too became a fan of your lovely blogs

Rainfield61,
Thanks. This came more as an accident than an experiment. But now I think it is worthwhile to try a few more trials. It is fun:) Love to see the picture you tried..

George,
It has a very mystical look now. But during that downpour twas never mystical:) Your blog contains some wonderful photos too!

Rajesh,
Thanks. It was simply hammering down with rain:)

Linda,
Thanks. Even Harumi has thought twas a painting:) It has the character of a water colour painting.

Thanks all for your valuable comments! Really appreciate them!!

Interesting photo - like the rainy blur. We have rain here too! Thanks for stopping by.

It must be. a bit scary too, knowing that the area is renowned for landslides and stuff. :) and the power cuts seem to have stopped, thankfully! :D Good to hear you got out before the mist set in, I wouldn't fancy sitting on the edge of a cliff waiting for the road to clear... :S

wncmountainliving,
So it is raining heavily in the Appalachian Mountains too. Saw the water gushing along in your blog pictures. Thanks for visiting my blog and your comments:)

Chavie,
Yep, Beragala stretch is quite risky on a rainy day! I had some unforgettable experience on a misty day travelling towards Haputale, but this time I passed that before the mist :)

Karen Georgia Angel,
Thanks a lot for your comments.

Although it was not intentional the photos have come up well through the windscreen :)
